2016 Goals for my Art

Howdy and Welcome to my blog.

Now that we are in the New Year most folks will be or have made a New Years Resolution.

Will this is my New Year Resolution.

But why not make a "New Year Goals For Your Art."

I have been doing this since 2010.

Here is one that I wrote in 2010.
I have been working on this list plus more since this year. But  what i am going to do for the readers is I am going to writing what I have completed, still working on or stop all together in red.
I also will print this out, hang it on my studio wall as a reminder of things that I am still working on or need to work on.

This is something that I learned to do while reading other folks blogs.

My Blog in 2010.
I have been thinking long and hard about some of the articles that I have read these pass few weeks like; ‘How to sell your art or crafts during the recession’, ‘How to be successful as an self employed artist’, ‘Dose an artist consider commission work’, ‘Gallery or not’ just to name a few.
I have found all of it good reading but first things first, if y'all are like me, I had to leave my artwork for a time and season and now I am ready to pick up were I left off but first I need to start with the bases question “What is it that I like to paint?” Not what I think mite sale or what I am told to paint but what do I have a passion for?
Well I love all things country (like barns, rustic, nature, etc) historical site, and animals. So my next idea is to start to set some goals for my self and I came up with “Goals for my art and here they are:

 My Goals for my Art

1.    Start to blog at lease once a month and work my way up to once a week.

This I have work up to posting once a week. Goal COMPLETED!

2.    Make up a new business card for Pet and Nature Portraits

I have deleted this page.

3.    Update my website– get new artwork on site in a timely matter.,

I have now gotten a new website

4.    Work on Zazzle and keep it updated -

Still have Zazzle but know longer use it. This year must deleted this page.

5.    Complete commission work in a timely matter.

6.    Complete the last painting before starting other one…

This was a bad habit that I had. Goal COMPLETED!

7.    Finish working on Pet and Nature Portraits blog setup

I have deleted this page.

8.    Need to start painting/drawing a lease 4 day a week and work up to everyday

Still working on this one

9.    Try to pin point my style in art

Goal COMPLETED with my acrylic. Now I must repeat this with oils.

10.  Get some eggs to paint on

11. Paint some art work that you can market for under $ $45.00

12. Try to go out 2-x a month and find a place to paint/ draw out in the community

Still working on this one.
We just move to Waxahachie, Texas in Jan 3, 2015 and I have join a Plein air group and Paint Waxahachie Event but still don't know the area.
Must work on driving around to explore the area and be on.

13. Start sending out more letters to animals shelters

I have deleted this idea. But may put it on the back burner and revisit it again.

14. Look for places to sell my art work

This is a ongoing idea but have found three place here in Waxahachie & Ennis to sell.

15. Find time to spend one on one time with hubby with out children, dogs, or me working on the computer

16. Start entering some art contents

This is a ongoing idea but Goal COMPLETED!

17. Start drawing/ painting animals to give to animals shelters  for auctions

I will need to put this on the back burner and revisit it again.

18. Learn more about inter net marketing

This is a ongoing idea but Goal COMPLETED!

19. Start a “Cup –a –Joe” on my site once a month so that people can come in and chat and leave there own site on my front page.

I will need to put this on the back burner and revisit it again.

Adding to my goal list for 2016

20. Will work on going outdoor to paint a lease once a week with weather permitting.

21. Well start entering some plein air contents this year.

22. Well learn how to master oils again.

23. Well continue to work on my studio in the house and one day have a studio build out off my house.

24. Will look into taking class with other artist to learn new ways of seeing and painting.

I know that I will not be able to complete my hold list in a matter of a few weeks or even a few months but as long as I take two or three from my list and start to work on them, I can then work on the others until all my list is done. But if I drop the ball on a few, I will not beat my self up, but I will start were I left off and learn to move on and enjoy what I create.

What goals do y’all need to help ya self with on your business or hobby …

for take the time to read my blogs.
I hope that they have been informative and inspirational to y'all.
