The other side of the coin....

Howdy and Welcome to my blog.

I have been talking a lot about Plein Air on my blog, groups and Facebook. And as a artist we want to put our best painting forward. Well I believe that sometime we need to see the other side of the coin.

Well I been having cabin fever with all this crazy rain here in Northern Tex.

On May 11,15 we had a brake of no rain for the day so I pack my gear and took my 20 year old son with me to get us both out of the house. Oh did I mention he had four of his wisdom teeth pull three day ago.

I drove us downtown to find some place for me to practice some Plein Air. I found a little antiques store.

Well I have been wanting to painting with my palette knife for a while now but was not sure how I was gong to do in a Plein Air setting.
I set up, got to painting and as soon as I did I had wish I had brought my brush with me. It just was not working for me as you can see in the first pic.

I painted for a while but did not finish because my son was in pain and I needed to get him home to lay down.

So this morning before my son got up and the rain hit again I got back to finishing the painting but this time I try to correct my painting by using my paint brushes and fingers to paint.

Did I make it better or worse? You be the judge of that.

I my self feel that it is not my best work by far and I could throw in the towel and say that Plein air is to hard or it's not for me. Or I could take what I have learn onto my next paint and practice, practice, practice for with each painting I will get better and learn to Master Plein Air. I will practice,practice,practice...

I'am planning on going back and painting this little antiques store again this year but this time I will use my paint brush and add the garage barn to the new painting.

Until next time, Happy Creating and God Bless
