How to turn a Box into Pochade Box

Howdy and Welcome to my blog.

I have been ask about my little home made Pochade Box and how I made it.

Well I can't take credit for this idea. I read a lot of blogs on Plein Air and one that stands out in my mind is Tom Brown a Orange Country- So Ca artist and teacher.

I remember him writing about a home made Pochade box's that he uses. He call it his Stealth Paint box that look likes a PC.

Here is one of his blog: 00:00:53

So with this in my mind and hearing some artist talk about painting in their car, truck, etc.  got me thinking.

So after moving to Texas, the cable guy came in to set up our TV and left these nice thick small box that would fit a 5"x 7", 8"X 10" and 11'x 14" canvas.

Hummmmm? I wonder how I could use these as a Pochade box when I want to go to a coffee shop, family home, any place that I can not set up my tripod and Pochade box.

So I came up with this. With Mr. Tom Brown idea I took my small box as you can see here

and I wonder what I could use for a Palette?
Will that was simple, the same thing that I use in my wet Palette. Parchment Paper!

Parchment paper will holds up better than Wax paper. As you can see here...

Now how to hold my canvas? I could fold back the side or top of the box and hold my canvas with clips  or I could choose to use good old fashion making tape as u can see here.

It dose the job just find. I am planning on getting some small pills box's (3 or 4 in a set. These can be carry in a pocket purse or pant pocket) and I will tape them to the back of the box. As for my brushes and paper towels, I place them in a little baggie and put them in my home make Pochade box. But when I am done painting I just place the brushes back in the baggie an put them under my Parchment paper, close up my home make Pochade box and a way go...

Until next time, Happy Creating and God Bless
