Oak Glen, Snow Line

Welcome to my blog.

As some of you may know I like to get outside and do some Plein Air painting every once in a while.

One of the places I like to go to in Califorina is Oak Glen and my favorite is Snow Line Apple Orcher. It is a small but cozy little orcher.

The first time I painted I had a friend Barbara come out with me. We had a great time sitting in the Apple Orcher with the apple on the trees and on the ground all around us. The smell of apple was is the air...

I wanted to paint this tree and building but little did I know that I was going to have some trouble with this painting.

As time went on most artist would have put their painting aside and started over again but not me, I just me kelp playing and we started to joke that I had chanel Vincent Van Gogh to help me paint the tree. Ha-Ha

Will as time went on that week it bug me that I could not work my acrylic paints so I switch to watercolors (What was I thinking? I don't work in watercolors)  but I gave it a try and this is what I came up with.

Here is the half point.

This is the finish painting.

Next I broke out my pastel and painted the same tree again.

Here is my pastel painting

After I spray the painting it turn dark and I had to go over it again with my pastels.

Well the next month I went out again to Snow Line but this time I took my grandkids with me and I painted the back side of an old shed.

I normaly don't do a quick shetch of what I am about to paint but this time I did.

Here is the first stage of this 5" x7" board canvas acrylic painting.

I 'm half way though this painting

This is my finish painting.

Until next time, Happy Creating and God Bless

Guess What? (*u*)

                                         Welcome to my blog.

I have been giving this a long and hard thought about posting this but if I am to move forward while leaving my old life and bad feel about what folks have told me about being an artist since I was a child.

This little post said it all and if I hurt anyone feeling I am truly sorry. I am just an artist try to find my way in this crazy art world while exploring different medium that I have always want to try since I was a young girl.

Now with that said I got an email the other day and hear is what it said,

Hello JD,

Just to let you know that I have included your painted goose egg in my article in the PMP magazine this quarter, as an example of particularly creative art.  I hope that's OK.  Sorry, I didn't have time to ask your permission between the submission deadline and going on holiday.  I hope you will be pleased, but if you would prefer it to be removed, I will ask the editor.

If you haven't seen it already, the link to the magazine is on the home page of PMP : http://issuu.com/paintmyphoto

All the best.

Lorna

WOW!!! I am so jazz and honored that they would have thought of me. If it was not for my friend Laura Moore and her pic of "Moonlight over Canada" that I had seen a couple of years ago on her site, I don't think I would be were I am at today as an artist. Ever time I pick up a brush I had to fight hard my past memory but now I am finding that those screaming voices are now little whisper and I am truly finding my self for once.

When I saw "Moonlight over Canada" I knew that I want to paint it but I want to also try something new. After seeing other artist create works of art with eggs I got a goose egg and try my hand at paint one which lead me into painting ornaments as will. But I found out that if I keep worry about what folks would think, say or the lost of some of my friends/family members I would not be in this month magazine today.

Side note: Laura and I are on page 34

So with all this said I am truly honored that PMP Magazine would think that my simple creation is worth being place in their magazine.

Until next time, Happy Creating and God Bless

Day 3 - 8 of the 30 painting in 30 day challenge

                                         Welcome to my blog.

Howdy all,
Well it is day 3 of the 30 day challenge and I hate to say this but it looks like I will be painting big this time.

I like to puzzle my canvases so for each day of the challenge I will post each piece (or most of them) of the painting each day but when I completed the painting I then will post the hold painting to sell on my web site http://creationsbyjdfields.weebly.com/ and here too.

I have decided to paint the California Landscapes and this is the Historical Zzyzx formerly know as Camp Soda and Soda Springs in the San Bernardino Country, Ca., within the boundaries of the Mojave National Preserve. It is the former site of the Zzyzx Mineral Springs and Health Spa and now the site of the Desert Studies Center.

I toke this pic from a widow looking out over the Soda Springs (the salt lake)

So I here is day 3 of the challenge

Day 4 of the challenge

Day 5 of the challenge

Day 6 of the challenge

Day 7 of the challenge

The finish painting
(Will post when finish)

Until next time, Happy Creating and God Bless
