22-26 of the 30 days challenge.

WOW!!! I can't believe we are coming to the end of the tunnel. I feel like a runner who has just come around the corner and can see the finish line.

To tell the truth I don't know how many times I wanted to though in the towel and just give up. But I knew that if I did that I would always be looking for the easy way out and I would never grow as a artist.

As a child I dreamed of becoming an artist but was not allowed because of my dyslexia and my grandmother. Later when I was a pre-teen I found myself back in art but this time I was put down while others were raise up, so again I gave up. In my 20's, 30's I try again just to be pull down again by family, friends, and x-husband, so again I gave up without a fight.

But now that I am in my 50's I am married to a sweet, loving man who has given me the confidence to be who I am a ARTIST!!!  And I will not go down without a fight.

So as I draw near to the finish line of my own race, I am learning so much that would have taken me months or even years to learn and I am glad I took up the challenge.

I am finding it a little hard to paint with hubby hanging around the house with his recovery...

Right now it is starting to look like other folk art painting which is NOT what I wanted so I will be reworking this one into a traditional or impressionist painting.

The other day I went out with some ladies and a young man on a plein air paint out in Redlands Ca. As I try to paint I found my self a little intimidated by nature. I so wanted to be in my studio alone and not around other people. But that was only because of me not being sure of my self around all the more experience plein air artist

So a few days later I took the photo that I took and brought it into the studio and created this small painting of the Birdhouse.

Years later I was coming out of a restaurant and there they where. I grab my

camera toke some pics and a few years past by and I just now painted them.

So glad I did for they are a beautiful genus of flowers that have been enjoyed

by humans for centuries and they remind me of my grandmother Carolina and a

11 th - 15th days of the 30 Days Painting Challenge

Wow I can't believe I painted 10 painting out of the 30 for the 30 Days Challenge hosted by Leslie Seata.

Well this week I am finding it a little hard to get thing/painting done due to the death of my x-sister -in-law (she died Sept 2, 2013) and with my brother sick in his head this has sent him over the eage. So now I have to dig up all kind of past info so I can help him (let tell the truth I have to do all the work because he can any more) and I have moved some time ago so i don't know were it all is. So I have to start from scrach. Yuck! I do not like this type of paper work.

Beside my sweet hubby going in for gall stone surgery on Friday the 13, (we don't believe in bad luck, black cat, etc) and they are pretty big. So with that said I continue with the painting challenge and I painted no.# 11-15 and here they are:

This is my 11th painting of the 30 days challenge.

This little painting is a 4"X 4" box canvas that I did Thursday while my hubby was at the doctor before surgery. I fell back into painting a folk art style of painting that I done with a palette knife...

This is the side view of the painting.

    Sunflower
4" X 4" on Box Canvas with stand
     Unframed and shipped at $45.00
      This is available for purchase.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A watercolor journal painting is my topic for my number 12 in the challenge.

On  day 12 of the challenge I went out with some ladies and a young man on a plein air paint out in Redlands Ca. and I thought I would bring home a plein air painting that I did but found my self watching some of the ladies paint in watercolor for my heart was not into due to the stress with my brother and my sweet hubby going in for surgery on Friday the 13, (we don't believe in bad luck, black cat, etc).

So when I got home I went back to
Leslie Seata blog and read that we are to challenge our self's to try different things. Hummmm? I'll pick up watercolor again and give it a try.

Here is a page from my Travel Journal that I painted today. I am starting off small and will work my way up to big paintings. Ha-Ha

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here is another Watercolor Journal Painting is my topic for my number 13
     in the challenge.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my 14th painting of the 30 days challenge.

After a day with hubby at the hospital for his surgery on Friday the 13th. Today while he is sleeping I pick up my palette knife and a 5" X 7" canvas panel and painted Three Tulips. I still feel a little out of my game but love the bright colors and it feels good to just let my self go and be free again.

    Three Tulips
                                                                 5" X 7" on canvas pane
     Unframed and shipped at $165.00
      This is available for purchase.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my 15th painting of the 30 days challenge.

Today I started this 8"X 10" stretch canvas painting of the Mission San Luis Rey de FrancĂa. I did not get to far with this one but at lease I got to paint. I think I will
not rush this one for I want to do it justice.

      5th - 10th days of the 30 Days Challenge

Now I am on my 5th - 10th  painting of the 30 paintings in 30 Days Challenge being hosted by Leslie Seata.

This is a good challenge and one that I am going to have to train my self to do, for I do not complete a painting in one day nor do I paint on a daily bases ether. But if I'm going to call my self a God given artist than I need to seeing Gods world with new eyes.

On day 5 and 6 of the challenge I was planning on painting some fruit but then I found this painting of Mission San Diego de Alcala that I had started to paint. I had decided sometime ago to paint all 21 Californian Mission. So hubby and I started to visit the Californian Mission and I would come home and prep canvases for painting and place it on a shelve.
So after sometime I found them again and now I am back to painting them. This painting I have done with a palette knife, for it is so much easier on my hand.

       Mission San Diego de Alcala
                                                                   8"x 10" on stretch canvas
       Unframed and  shipped at $200.00
        This is available for purchase.

I want to capture the old style of painting that the artist did back in the 1800's.
This was the first Mission of the 21 California Missions and if it was not for this Mission California would not be here today.

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                                                      Mentone Orange
                                                                  5" X 7" on canvas pane
       Unframed and shipped at $165.00
        This is available for purchase.

For day 7 of the challenge I couldn't resist painting one of my favorite memories...
The background is something new and playful for me. The orange is from Mentone,Ca. My daddy use to take us to Mentone all the time to visit family and friends.

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                  Two Cherries
       5" X 7" on canvas pane
          Unframed and shipped at $165.00
             This is available for purchase.

Day 8 of the challenge - I did a drawing of two cherries
with colored pencils years ago and I wanted to create this in a painting but I would have to go by memory.  I did it!

      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                                                   Sunset after the rain
                                                                  5" X 7" on canvas pane
       Unframed and shipped at $165.00
        This is available for purchase.

Day 9 of the challenge - This past month and this month as will, we have been having a lot of rain clouds but no rain until the other day when we had a huge down pour.

      What a sight to see.

In the evening we can see some of Gods most beautiful sunset in So CA.

This painting is done with a palette knife.

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                                                                          The Cherry Tree
                                                                    5" X 7" on canvas pane
       Unframed and shipped at $165.00
        This is available for purchase.

Day 10 of the challenge - I decided to do paint other painting of cherries but this time I wanted them hanging on a tree limb. This painting is half  palette knife and half brush.
